Since the Launch of Apple’s iPad , ebook reader major manufacturers has felt the pressure of many similar emerging product which is a crossover product between a Mobile Internet device and a ebook reader. Some consider them as iPad Clones but as market starts to accept them better, they became better knows at MID – Mobile Internet Device , or Touch Tablet
The Mobile Internet device serves similar as another e-reader device able to read books , informational articles, e-zines, and novels in ibook format and provide also the ability to do efficient web browsing in full colour with capacity to view videos in different format , play music , sending and receiving email and even social networking
As such ebook reader which mostly focus on their reading features, like having exclusive audio reader or handwriting features built-in with e-ink reading enhancement tools ,DRM protection has felt the immerse pressure. Such eReader devices mostly come with Black /white screen but lacks the features of playing Movies and web browsing features thus failing to attract the younger generation readers
Beside Tech savvies has preference for MID as most of them are priced within USD 250-00 with colour screen or even Wifi-3G features and further able to do both colour ebook and e-magazine reading
Traditional eReader devices like the Kindle from Amazon has felt such effect from this new competition that will cause eReader devices to be sold for much less than they currently are today . Analyst has predicted a good Kindle type eReader should cost less than US 180 ,and Amazon has started to offer with this price range for their New Model ,with Koboreader also selling at USD 145-00 at several online store .
Tech consumers will surely benefits from this competition as it will bring forth also many more Books made available for download at several eBook downloadable services such as Google ,Borders.com and many ebook sites and to suit different devices , many ebook formats will be easily made available in Multiple format for the same content or ebooks at most major downloadable service platform . Even gadget similar to iphone and smartphone are able to download ebooks .The choice of eReading device will therefore increases in near future
With the popularity of E Book readers and the Mobile Internet Device , readers and consumer benefits with new wider options, while aspiring authors are provided with also new challenges to come out with new books in ebook format and are provided with new option in epublishing with new enhancement in self publishing environment where option to Print on demand are new easily available to authors nowadays
Further generating new growth in this sector ,major internet search engine company like Google has also launches their ebooks services for E-book sales in 2010 thus further broaden the scope of epublishing and its supporting industries for further potential growth in the coming years
Both MID and ereading devices will come of age and be an important product for distributing content. The attractive pricing and availability of low cost devices will attract a lot publishers to develop compatible content. In the meantime, we can see several trends that could encourage their further popularity and that could become near-term opportunities for epublishing
The epublishing industry will therefore need to find new ways to market ebook through major Books store and online store in order to be ready for this new coming trend. while also considering the issue of large scale piracy that would happen in the digital format

Hong Kong Book Fair Introduces Digital Publishing Section
For the first time, the Hong Kong Book Fair has devoted an area of the packed show floor to digital publishing and technology exhibitors, reported the New York Times. The new digital book and e-publishing zone at the week-long fair features over twenty technology companies showcasing their products to the almost 900,000 attendees expected by tomorrow’s closing day.
The dedicated booths come as a response to the rapidly growing popularity of e-reading in China. Hanvon, a Chinese company that makes dedicated e-readers similar to Amazon’s Kindle, reported 1.5 million e-readers sold last year alone. Martin Ke, a sales manager for Jecomtech, said there was still a market for print books, but added: “But I think e-books are going to grow. They’re convenient, they’re portable, and, some say, they are more environmentally friendly.” ,Since Hongkong exhibition , we further seen the influx of many iPad similar Tablet ,some come with Androids Operating system and most come with ebook reading features
BookFest @Singapore
Well with the recent Introduction in Hongkong , we hope the coming Bookfest will have some similar introduction in this technology but not much information has been provided by the organiser as yet .
BookFest @ Singapore has been the most popular platform over the years to showcase millions of books by local and international authors .Every year hundreds of publishing houses, books and stationery distributors from all over the Asian region will set up their booths to display their range of products covering several different languages , major participating countries of the event include Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and from several Europe countires and the United Kingdom
The BookFest will covers several major exhibition Hall at the Suntec Singapore Hall 601-603 . The mega book exposition will be held for a duration of 10 days from 10 – 19 December in conjunction with the school holidays . To complement the event, a series of fun-filled and exciting activities such as concerts, performances, contests as well as meet-the-author-sessions are planned throughout.
